Why Small Vessels Need Oxygen, Not Only Air

Small live-fish tanks have limited oxygen buffer. After catch, stocking density rises quickly and dissolved oxygen can fall faster during summer, long operation, vibration, and wave motion.

Operating Challenges

  • Limited live fish tank volume
  • High stocking density after catch
  • Long operating hours
  • Strong vibration and wave motion
  • Limited onboard power

Conventional Aeration Limits

Air contains only about 21% oxygen. Under high stocking density and high water temperature, air supply may not respond fast enough to oxygen demand.

O2MOS Compact PSA Oxygen Solution

O2MOS PSA technology generates high-purity oxygen onboard and supplies it directly to live fish tanks through flow meters and air stones.

PSA Technology Principle

Pressure Swing Adsorption separates oxygen from compressed air by selectively adsorbing nitrogen with zeolite molecular sieve.

Air Intake

Ambient air is compressed and supplied to the adsorption tower.

Nitrogen Adsorption

Zeolite molecular sieve selectively adsorbs nitrogen from the compressed air.

Oxygen Extraction

High-purity oxygen is generated continuously and supplied to the tank.

Basic Vessel System Configuration

A practical onboard setup includes a PSA oxygen generator, DC power supply, optional monitoring, flow meter, tubing, and air stones.

Safety Advantage vs. High-Pressure Cylinders

For small vessels, reducing heavy cylinder handling and high-pressure storage is an important practical advantage.

Oxygen Generator

  • No high-pressure storage
  • Low operating pressure, ≤1.5 bar
  • Continuous onboard generation
  • Safer handling for vessel crews

High-Pressure Cylinder

  • High-pressure storage risk
  • Heavy cylinder handling
  • Replacement and refilling required
  • Recurring logistics burden

Operational & Business Benefits

CategoryProblem Without OxygenBenefit of Oxygen Generator
Live Fish SurvivalLow dissolved oxygen causes stress and mortality.Stable oxygen supply helps improve survival.
Catch QualityFish quality can degrade rapidly after capture.Helps maintain freshness and market value.
Extended OperationTransport time is limited by oxygen shortage.Supports longer fishing and transport operations.
Safety & HandlingHeavy cylinders are difficult and risky onboard. No high-pressure cylinder replacement required.
Operating CostOxygen refilling creates recurring cost.Lower long-term operating burden.

Export Positioning

Recommended positioning for overseas buyers: compact, low-pressure, DC-powered PSA oxygen supply for live fish freshness and safer vessel operation.

Japan

Suitable for compact coastal vessels, live fish handling, and quality-focused seafood distribution.

Southeast Asia

Applicable to small fishing vessels, live fish transport, and tropical conditions where oxygen demand can rise quickly.

Scalable Use

Can also be applied to live fish trucks, holding tanks, and aquaculture support systems.
